Frequently asked questions
Start here for answers to the most common DocumentXchange questions.
What is DocumentXchange?
DocumentXchange is a marketplace where users can request, contribute, search for, purchase, and access public-record documents and related metadata. DocumentXchange is not a government agency, law firm, title company, or official records custodian.
How do I request a document?
Open the Request tab, enter the document type, location, estimated page count, and any identifying details. Review the request carefully before submitting it.
How do I contribute a document?
Select Contribute, photograph every page clearly, provide accurate document details, review the automated quality results, and publish the document. You must have the legal right to distribute every page.
How does document scanning work?
DocumentXchange may use OCR and artificial intelligence to extract searchable information, detect possible duplicates, classify records, and identify quality problems. Automated results can be inaccurate, so contributors must review every page and field.
How do contributor royalties work?
Eligible contributors receive the royalty percentage displayed in the app when uploading or fulfilling a request. Royalties may be adjusted for refunds, chargebacks, duplicate or unlawful content, fraud, and payment reversals.
Where can I see documents I purchased?
Sign in and open Library. Purchased documents should appear under your document purchases. If a completed purchase is missing, contact support with the purchase date and document title.
How do I request a refund?
Purchases made through Apple are subject to Apple’s refund process and policies. For missing, inaccessible, unlawfully posted, or materially misdescribed content, contact DocumentXchange support so we can investigate.
How do I report an inappropriate document?
Use the report option available on the document or page. Include the affected page numbers and a clear explanation. For urgent privacy, safety, or legal concerns, email support directly.
How do I delete my account?
Open Profile, select Delete Account, and confirm the request. Transaction, payout, fraud-prevention, dispute, and legal-compliance records may be retained when required or permitted by law.
Is DocumentXchange an official records source?
No. Documents are contributed by users. Verify important records directly with the appropriate court, county recorder, government office, or other official custodian before relying on them.
